Background

Krishna is a senior lecturer and consultant surgeon in Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust. His areas of research include improving teamwork and safety in the operating theatre through the use of checklists and briefing, simulation based team training, information transfer through the surgical process and quality improvement in patients undergoing major GI surgery.


In the past his research has involved the use of simulations for the training and assessment of surgical trainees. He helped establish the Simulated Operating theatre in the St Mary’s hospital campus. He is a member of the working group of the WHO ‘Safe Surgery Saves Lives’ campaign and is the local project lead for the pilot evaluation of the WHO checklist at the St Mary’s campus. He leads the Safety in Surgery research group.
