NIHR Academic Health Centres of the Future
The NIHR launched a new scheme,to establish pilot National Institute for Health Research Academic Health Centres of the Future (AHCFs) on 23 October 2007. These new Centres will focus on evaluating and identifying new interventions that are effective and appropriate for everyday use in the NHS, and the processes through which they become routine clinical practice.
The role of the National Audit Office (NAO) is to audit the financial statements of all government departments and agencies, and many other public bodies inlcuding the NHS. The NAO also report to Parliament on thevalue for money with which these bodies have spent public money. As well as providing accountability to Parliament, they aim to bring about real improvements in the delivery of public services.
